Ignis Premium 21mm Light Redwood Thermowood Decking
MODEL IPTD
High Quality Light Redwood Thermowood Decking Boards.
- 21mm thick boards especially selected to fit onto an already very solid sub-frame
- Thermally treated against decay, fungal attack and should last for decades
- Chemical free treatment for sensitive locations. Highly durable decking boards.
- Nordic Redwood with lots of knots and character.
Thermally treated timber has undergone first a kiln drying process and afterwards a thermal treatment for up to 48 hours and 260 degrees Celsius meaning it's chemical free and makes it durable and resin-free.
This process modifies the cellular structure of the material and will prevent degradation via insect attack, rot, weathering etc for many decades.
The process changes the colour of the timber to various shades of brown depending on material, our Scandinavian redwood fifths end up a nice light chocolate brown.
If the colour is protected by a clear coating for external use then the colour will remain the same but if left alone it will change to a lovely silver grey over time. Internally the colour will not fade for many years and will require no treatment to retain it's original brown hue.
Our Redwood Thermowood will have sound knots, among other natural characteristics and is machined on site to our usual high standards to several of our standard profiles.
This is a highly durable material that is effectively a drop in replacement for traditionally longer lasting softwoods such as Siberian larch and Canadian Western red cedar with far lower environmental impact.
