Internal Cladding

Our internal timber cladding brings real wood to walls, ceilings, kitchens, bathrooms, garden rooms and feature walls. Oak, ash and Douglas fir boards are kiln dried at 20 mm so they stay stable in heated rooms, Thermowood is heat-modified for stability, and every board is machined on site at our own sawmill to our own profile drawings. Choose from kiln dried oak, English ash, Douglas fir and Thermowood. Tongue and groove and V tongue and groove give a neat, flush finish. For sloping ceilings, see our vaulted ceiling boards, and use 20 mm kiln dried trim boards to finish corners and openings. Finishing your cladding: all our cladding is supplied unfinished (apart from painted featheredge), so you can leave it to weather naturally or finish it to suit. For outside walls, see our cladding treatments, including Treatex exterior oils such as Treatex External Virgin Oak Oil and Treatex Douglas Fir Protection. Frequently asked questions

Why is internal cladding kiln dried?

  • Kiln drying brings the moisture down before the boards are machined, so they stay stable in heated rooms rather than shrinking and opening gaps.
  • Kiln dried oak is 8–12% moisture up to 40 mm.

What thickness is your internal cladding?

  • 20 mm kiln dried across our internal range.

Can I use internal cladding on a ceiling?

Is internal cladding supplied finished?

  • No. All our cladding is supplied unfinished (apart from painted featheredge), so you can choose the finish.
  • Oil, wax or lacquer it, or leave it natural.
  • Our wood oils and finishes include Treatex Hardwax Oil Ultra, which suits interior walls and ceilings.
