Carcassing timber is kiln-dried treated structural graded softwood that is most commonly used where a grading stamp is required. Predominantly used as floor joists, roof joists and for timber framing, it can also be used in many other applications both internally and externally.
UK Timber hold and supply large stocks of C16 Carcassing Timber in all standard and extra long lengths and dimensions! Possibly the widest range in the UK (if the size that you are looking for is not available in C16 then please check our C24 Carcassing instead).
Our carcassing timber is pressure treated with Tanalith E to protect against fungal decay and insect attack.
Graded to C16 for use in construction where load bearing and support is required, our eased edge range of C16 Carcassing Timber has the same strength class as traditional sawn C16 Carcassing Timber. The radiused (bevelled) edges and smoother machined finish also ease handling.
C24 timber is kiln-dried treated structural graded softwood that is most commonly used where a grading stamp is required, it is a higher grade structural timber than C16, however, unless C24 grade is specified C16 graded timber is more than sufficient for most purposes and will normally be at a lower cost. You can find C16 graded timber here.
C16 grade timber is produced and available domestically and is provided as a green alternative to C24 which is imported from areas where the climate forces a slower growth rate and produces a tighter grain.
C24 grade timber can used in the construction of floor joists, roof joists and timber framing, it can also be used in many other applications both internally and externally.

Our range of solid oak posts are milled from high quality solid fresh sawn European Oak, making them heavy duty and incredibly versatile for use in many internal and external applications. Mainly used for fencing and gate purposes, they can also be used for making rustic and contemporary oak furniture.
Due to the moisture content of the oak, some surface checking, shrinkage and splits may occur during the natural drying process of the timber, making them perfect for projects where you require a rustic appearance.
In addition to our oak posts, we offer a post machining service and a post weathering service in various finishes, as well as a planing service should you require a smoother finish for your posts. Please contact our Sales Team on 01536 267107 for details and prices for our planing service.
