The British Larch/Douglas Fir rafter bearers are left untreated due to the materials natural durability thanks to their high resin content which acts as a highly effective preservative, which makes it decay, rot and insect resistant. This makes the need for treatment redundant. You can however use Treatex Douglas Fir Protection or UV Oil to slow down the weathering process and protect it from the elements further.
