Douglas Fir is regarded as one of the most hard wearing of all domestic softwoods - beautiful in appearance and incredibly resilient.

Our Douglas Fir Gate Posts are untreated. The high resin content is what gives the material its natural durability, however treatment can be applied should you require additional protection from the elements or to maintain the colour that little while longer. Taking good care of wood in exterior applications is of paramount importance as it not only provides protection, but it will also enhance its natural beauty and feel. By protecting it from the elements you'll also be increasing its resistance against rot, decay and insect attack.

The colour of Douglas Fir varies from a beautiful deep red to pink to cream and is completely random, it adds serious character to the most adaptable of English softwoods. If not treated, it will become a beautiful silver/grey colour once weathered.

*Planed all round (PAR) sizing is the nominal size. There will be a reduction of approximately 6mm on the overall size due to planing.
