Our Air-Dried Oak Tongue and Groove Cladding is the perfect choice should you require a product that not only gives you long lasting weather protection, but also gives you that traditional 'T&G' finish along with the stunning grain that oak offers.

Air-Dried (Seasoned) Oak has been dried since the tree was felled, either by spending 3-5 years exposed to air or by accelerated drying inside a kiln. This process reduces the moisture content to approximately 20-30% compared to that of our other oak cladding, making it more stable than a fresh sawn cladding product and less prone to shrinkage.

The boards used for this cladding are characterful and may have a small amount of sap to the underside, sound knots without limitation and occasional historic insect damage. If a higher grade with a more contemporary, straight grained, knot free appearance is required please take a look at our first grade offerings.

Being a natural living product, you may also experience some colour variation and when in place, some natural movement as the timber adjusts to the changing seasons. These characteristics are to be expected and will give a beautiful natural distinctive appearance.

These boards are fixed together by inserting the tongue into the groove. The chamfering at the top and the bottom of the boards accentuates the individual boards by creating a subtle 'V' shadow line along the joints. Dependent on your style, they can also be fitted either horizontally or vertically; should you choose to fit them horizontally, it is recommended that the boards are installed with the tongue uppermost, this is to allow any moisture to fall away from the tongue.

This machined cladding can be used for both internal and external applications. If exposed to varying temperatures and conditions before fitting your boards, they are likely to cup, warp and split; the ideal time to fit cladding externally to keep this to a minimum is between the months of October and April and within 7 to 14 days of delivery.

Your boards will be supplied untreated. No treatments are required, however if you wish to preserve the supplied colour or use a weather resistant sealant, please take a look at our Treatex range. Should you wish to leave it to age gracefully, it will eventually turn to a beautiful silvery grey colour.

Ready to fix and available in two options - First and Character Grade:

  • First Grade is sorted to include only the clearest (most knot free) boards with the straightest grain possible. A perfect choice for all modern and contemporary applications.
  • Character Grade will have a mixture of all top four grades, 1 through to 4 - some clear of knots and some straight grain, others with knots and some sloping grain. A perfect choice for all traditional/rustic applications, it gives a less uniformed look, without compromising its excellent durability properties.

End-Matching (Tongue and Groove) will allow you to place joints where they fall, instead of on the stud, allowing you to finish the job more quickly without sacrificing on quality and helps minimise wastage.

We offer the following section size:

  • 117mm x 20mm - The overall width is 117mm, with the visible face measuring 107mm
  • 142mm x 20mm - The overall width is 142mm, with the visible face measuring 132mm
  • 117mm x 25mm - The overall width is 117mm, with the visible face measuring 107mm
  • 142mm x 25mm - The overall width is 142mm, with the visible face measuring 132mm

The face size is less 10mm to account for the tongue joint.

This profile is priced per square metre and comes in random lengths between 1200mm and 3600mm unless specified for an additional charge:

  • Set lengths up to 3500mm - £4.00 extra per square metre exc VAT
  • Set lengths above 3500mm - £8.00 extra per square metre exc VAT

This can be done by adding the 'Set lengths (Cladding)' product to your basket (1 quantity = 1 square meter of cladding). You will need the same amount of cladding and set lengths in your basket to get the set lengths that you need so make sure to double check you have added the correct quantity.

Please contact our Sales Team on 01536 267 107 should you have any issues.

Still unsure? We offer up to two samples of our cladding boards for a £5 inc VAT postage charge. Should you wish to then purchase cladding boards that are the same product as your samples, we will reimburse you the £5 postage charge upon ordering!*
